Porous Primer is a penetrating primer coat, required when applying VIVILON™ top coat over any porous substrate. This clear, low solids coating is formulated for optimum ease of penetration deep into and absorbtion by the open pores of the substrate. This provides for the important sealing off of the surface porosity and provides the necessary solid foundation for top coating with VIVILON™.
Where is it used:
Acting almost like a “sanding sealer”, Porous Primer prepares surfaces like brick, stucco, EIFS, unglazed tile, concrete, unpainted wood and stone for effective, long lasting restorative sealing and protection. For some very porous surfaces, a second coat of primer may be required.

For Faster Dry Time:
Add from 1 to 3 ounces of Xylene per quart of VIVILON™. Recommended whenever spraying below 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Be careful to add only the MINIMUM amount of solvent absolutely necessary. If the coating dries too quickly, it will harden before it has a chance to penetrate fully.
To Slow Dry Time:
Add 1 to 3 ounces of VIVILON Retarder per quart of Porous Primer. Recommended when spraying above 85 degrees Fahrenheit or to extend open time when brushing or rolling product.
To Prevent Blushing on Humid Days:
Add 1 to 3 ounces of VIVILON Retarder per quart of Porous Primer.
Not applicable. Porous Primer is always top coated with VIVILON. To wash VIVILON™ coated surfaces, after full cure, use a neutral cleaner and a soft brush. DO NOT USE hot water, steam, highly acidic or caustic materials. They are not needed or advised.
